When you arrive in Kigali, a representative from our tours will greet you, pick you up, and take you to Kigali for a city tour. You'll go to the memorial to the genocide. In April 2004, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, the Kigali Genocide Memorial was inaugurated. Over 250,000 individuals were buried in Kigali following the genocide, and this center is situated there. These tombs serve as stark reminders of how expensive illiteracy is in Africa. The location is a permanent memorial to the victims of the genocide in Rwanda. People can grieve for loved ones who succumbed to the genocide there. It features a perpetual display of the genocide in Rwanda as well as examples of other genocides worldwide. After that, you'll travel to Five Volcanoes Lodge FB in the volcanoes National Park where you'll spend the night and have dinner.
After eating breakfast and packing a lunch and your gorilla trekking supplies, head to the ORTPN offices for registration and briefing. To experience a remarkable gorilla trek, travel to the Volcanoes National Park. Trekkers must be in shape because gorilla trekking can take anywhere between two and ten hours and can often seem tough. If the walk takes longer than expected, you can pack a picnic lunch and eat it along the way. A pleasant experience is seeing the gorillas after a strenuous journey! You'll go back to the lodge. If your gorilla trek comes to an early end, you can pay an additional fee to visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. From here, you'll be taken to the ideal spot to see the lakes. Later, return to Five Volcanoes Lodge FB for your overnight stay.
Afterwards, go to the Volcanoes National Park to see the Golden Monkeys. Have breakfast, then report to the ORTPN Office for registration and briefing. One of Africa's most endangered primates is the golden monkey. The Virunga Volcanoes National Park and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda are presently thought to contain the only viable population of these monkeys. Although it hasn't been confirmed, a smaller group may still reside in the southern Rwandan Nyungwe Forest National Park. The Albertine Rift is home to many different species of guenon, including the golden monkey, Cercopithecus Kandti. Five Volcanoes Lodge: Dinner and Accommodations FB.
We will take you to the graves of the late, well-known American scientist Dian Fossey, who was slain while conducting study on gorillas and other primates in the Park des Volcans. Dian Fossey, a renowned naturalist, conducted her gorilla studies at Volcanoes National Park, which served as her base of operations. Her establishment of the Karisoke Research Centre between Visoke and Karisimbi in 1967 followed her arrival. She's been in the park a lot since then. By drawing the attention of the international community to the gorillas' predicament, she is largely credited with preserving them from extinction. The crime, which is frequently blamed on the poachers she had spent her life battling against, was committed by unidentified intruders at her home in 1985. The movie Gorillas in the Mist, which was modeled around Dian Fossey's memoirs, later made reference to her vitality studies. She was laid to rest among the gorillas who became her life in a burial near her research facility in the Volcanoes National Park.
